Indian censor board clears Padmavat and no, that is not a typo

Source at the censor board said that the makers of "Padmavati" had "unnecessarily complicated its case" with an ambiguous disclaimer in its application for certification which stated that the film was partially based on historical facts.

The film was screened for a special panel consisting of Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Dr.Chandramani Singh & Prof K.K. Singh of Jaipur University on December 28.

The censor board on Saturday said it would clear controversial Bollywood film Padmavati after suggesting five major modifications, including changing the title to Padmavat, but the move failed to pacify Rajput groups that allege the movie distorts history. The story is narrated in poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi's epic titled Padmavat, which was written in 1540. "However the CBFC has suggested 5 modifications, two of them featuring Deepika Padukone performing the traditional Rajasthanicustom of ghoomar and jauhar". The decision was made after the meeting of CBFC's examining committee. "I am glad that following a balanced approach we resolved the task at hand in a pragmatic and positive manner", CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi said. "Panel member had insights and also some reservations regarding claimed historical events and socio-cultural aspects which were duly discussed at length".

Hours after the CBFC's decision to certify Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati with a "UA" subject, wild rumours of "26" cuts ordered by the censor board, have begun doing the rounds.

Calif. officer killed, another injured in Christmas Eve crash
CHP officer Andrew Camilleri, 33, was stopped in a marked vehicle near Winton Avenue on-ramp to Interstate 880 at about 11:32 p.m. California Governor Jerry Brown issued a statement on the officers death Monday morning.

Historians are divided about whether the queen existed, but many Rajputs believe she did and accuse Bhansali of portraying her in a bad light.

"We had given a whole list of objections regarding the movie", Ajit Singh, president of Rajput Karni Sena, told Reuters.

Vishvaraj also mentioned that he earlier wrote a letter on December 22 stating, "The fact remains that my questions are relevant for every member of the proposed committee and without resolving the same, the committee's findings shall remain a mirage". The Sri Rajput Karna Sena is still against the film. And then Ghoomar song should also be trimmed to a certain extent.

A member of the organisation, Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, while talking to media persons, said, "They are playing with our emotions".
