Investigators Identify Victims Of Deadliest Fire Since 1990s Happy Land Arson

The deadliest residential fire in decades in NY apparently began as a child played with a first-floor stove then spread quickly throughout a Bronx apartment building, killing 12 people and leaving four others fighting for their lives, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday.

"I don't know what to do, and I don't know how to feel", Stewart-Francis' mother, Ambrozia Stewart, told The New York Times.

Self-closing doors, which swing shut on their own to keep fires from spreading, were also supposed to have been installed, said city Housing Preservation and Development Department spokesperson Matthew Creegan. Four people remained hospitalized with critical injuries, "fighting for their lives right now", Mr.de Blasio said according to the New York Times. "But when you have this number of people pass as a result of a disaster like this, it's heartbreaking", de Vulpillieres said.

The child had a history of fiddling with the stove in his family's first-floor apartment, his mother told officials investigating the deadliest fire in the city since 1990.

"I opened the door and it was pitch black", Rodriguez said.

The fire started on the first floor of a Bronx apartment block on Thursday and quickly spread upstairs, according to fire officials. She said the last text she had gotten from her mother, who lives in the building, was that she was trapped in her third floor apartment.

City will have to make way and let Liverpool meet the demands of the Saints who want a record £70m-plus fee for the player. The player only signed a new six-year contract last year, having joined the Saints from Celtic for £13m in September 2015.

"I hear them say: 'Fire!"

Authorities said the boy was three-and-a-half years old. "I had to come down here and see for myself". Fire Department video released Friday showed the building's charred halls and stairs, where icicles had formed from water poured on the blaze. Others were helped out onto the fire escapes, taken down by our members, ' he added. "It felt like we'd been living in a war zone", said Carole Van Duzer of Erie, Pennsylvania, which was buried this week under five feet of snow. "I couldn't carry the rest of them", Reyes told the Times. "For me, that's like a sanctuary or a memorial". "The building is gone", he said.

Mayor Bill de Blasio was en route to the scene of the fire around 9 p.m.

"Disasters are traumatic even when there's not a loss of life".

In 2007, 10 immigrants from Mali, including nine children, died after a space heater caught fire in a Bronx building. He was staying with a family that escaped the fire safely, but no one could find Mensah, despite checking four hospitals. The latest complaint entered Thursday was from the FDNY requesting a structural stability inspection after the deadly, five-alarm fire.
