NY police investigate four possible murders in apartment upstate

"Only a person of savagery would do something like this".

The Times Union reported the basement apartment was most recently occupied by a woman, her two children and her "partner".

Police say the four were found dead inside a home at 158 Second Avenue in the Lansingburgh section of the city. "I don't have the word".

Four bodies were found in a basement apartment in New York Tuesday, prompting a search by investigators. "The emotions of a police officer are something you repress because there is a job to be done", Tedesco said, adding that no one involved in this case will ever forget it. Law enforcement sources told media outlets in Albany that the victims were all found tied up.

Troy police Capt. Daniel DeWolf said authorities received a call of several unconscious people in an apartment building at around 12:50 p.m., according to the Albany Times Union. Authorities did not release any names of the victims.

He urged the public to come forward with any information regarding the deaths, which are now being investigated as a quadruple homicide. Autopsies were being performed on the bodies Wednesday.

The two women were in a relationship, Tedesco said, and the children belonged to one of the women, the chief said. While they do not yet have a person of interest in the slayings, Todesco said he does not believe there is an imminent danger to the public.

A heavy police presence remained at the upstate apartment Wednesday morning as authorities continued to hunt for clues in the deaths. It is unclear how long the bodies were in the home before they were discovered.
