Donald Trump Tweet-tacks Vanity Fair For

Vanity Fair has apologised for a video it posted suggesting Hillary Clinton took up knitting or "literally anything that will keep you from running again".

The video, made in jest, featured Vanity Fair writers sipping champagne and giving advice to Clinton for what she should pursue in 2018.

The editors suggest she vow to take up knitting, volunteer work or any hobby that would keep her from running again for president.

"It was an attempt at humor and we regret that it missed the mark", Beth Kseniak, a spokeswoman for Vanity Fair, told several outlets.

Mr Trump took to Twitter on Friday morning (AEDT) saying the magazine was "bending over backwards in apologising for the minor hit".

The hashtag #CancelVanityFair began trending yesterday as commenters pledged to no longer subscribe to the magazine for its video.

Sarah Palin's Son Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Father
Sarah Palin called police, saying her son was "freaking out and was on some type of medication", the affidavit stated. After getting off the phone with his son, Todd Palin told police that he got his pistol out to "protect his family".

The suggestion, part of an online video poking fun at the failed presidential candidate, was greeted with outrage, disdain and near-hysteria from Vanity Fair's readership who immediately complained of sexism.

Mr Trump added that Anna Wintour "is beside herself in grief & begging for forgiveness!"

In his tweet, Trump noted the apology and also jabbed Wintour, who is editor-in-chief of Vogue and artistic director for Conde Nast, which owns both Vogue and Vanity Fair, according to Entertainment Weekly.

In the video, which Vanity Fair said was meant to be amusing, the editors offered Clinton suggestions on new hobbies that would prohibit her from running for president again, like taking up knitting or volunteering.

The Clinton video is just one of a series in which staffers offer snarky tips and resolutions to well-known politicos. A-list celebrities like Patricia Arquette even weighed, suggesting the publication stop telling women what they should or can do. Surprisingly, the video did find one defender: conservative talking head Tomi Lahren. "I want to believe they gave each of those individuals an opt-out opportunity but they genuinely looked happy to do it".

"I don't appreciate being taken out of context to make me seem super sexist", she said on Twitter. "We made silly new years resolutions for a bunch of politicians".
