Wenger declares Walcott has Arsenal future

France assistant coach Guy Stephan said last week that Olivier Giroud "now must play more" having not started a Premier League game this season.

He told reporters ahead of Thursday's clash with BATE Borisov: "Yes he has a future".

"We have the League Cup, we are still in it, we have the FA Cup coming, we have the Europa League, we have the Premier League where we have a big chance to finish in the top four".

Giroud has started two of France's three matches so far this term, but Stephan is reported to have said that the 31-year-old must play more at club level to keep his global place, and that perhaps a loan move in January would be a solution. "They really need to push the boat out and buy a couple more players".

"Look, I have to consider the interests of the player".

But while they have played regularly in cup competitions - and already topped the Europa League group - they have featured little in the Premier League which is concerning the national team managers. He was sick a few weeks ago and after I didn't change the squad. We don't want to become weaker.

Kirk Herbstreit explains how Alabama can still make the Playoff
Meanwhile, Baker Mayfield & Co. boast victories against Ohio State , Oklahoma State and TCU and a not-as-bad loss to Iowa State . At the top of the CFP rankings are No. 1 Clemson (11-1), No. 2 Auburn (10-2), No. 3 Oklahoma (11-1) and No. 4 Wisconsin (12-0).

'I have to consider the interest of the player but dominant of that will be the interests of the club and if you can combine the two it is better still but first is what is important for the club. I have to consider the interest of the player.

"When you pick a team you do not necessarily look how long a contract is", Wenger said.

Asked if he would keep the Englishman in January, however, Wenger said: "Yes". But these are discussions I have had with the players. At least it is not backed by the numbers.

Many of Arsenal's most established performances in the Premier League and Europe have involved Walcott playing an integral part in attack.

'They have to make their decisions, I have to make mine.

Both Giroud and Walcott could possibly see more playing time in the league over the next month during the busy holiday period, but will probably have to accept being backups if they do stay in January.
