Trump Says He Turned Down 'Person Of The Year.' Time Disagrees

Trump's original tweet, which the magazine denied, claimed Time told him he was "probably" going to be named the magazine's Person of the Year for 2017.

President Donald Trump says he's not playing ball with Time magazine as it decides its Person of the Year.

British tennis champion Andy Murray seemingly started the trend of mocking the president by tweeting, "Bbc just called to say I was PROBABLY going to be named sports personality of the year but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot". He tweeted: "I said probably is no good and took a pass". "TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6", the magazine tweeted.

President Donald Trump prepares his traditionnal adress to thank members of the U.S. military via video teleconference on Thanksgiving day, November 23, 2017 from his residence in Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

TIME itself commented on the president's tweet to say that he was incorrect about their editorial process.

High-profile Twitter users parodied Trump's tweet to discuss all the hypothetical awards they had also turned down.

State police add extra patrols for Thanksgiving holiday
Wednesday night, many motorists will be hitting the road to their destination to spend Thanksgiving with family. The Highway Patrol's Emergency Assistance number is 1-800-525-5555 (or *55 on a cellular phone).

Time Inc.'s chief content officer, Alan Murray, also took a dig at President's tweet and stated that it didn't have "a speck of truth".

At the time, explaining their decision, the judges wrote: "It's hard to measure the scale of his disruption".

"In 2014, Trump retweeted someone who wrote, "@realDonaldTrump I think Time Magazine should pick you as Person of the Year.

However, the magazine was back in his good graces when he appeared on the cover in August 2015 and when he was named "Person of the Year" in 2016.

You can always print yourself another fake cover.

"Donald Trump: The "Apprentice" is a television smash!" the headline on the fake cover read.
