The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics also released preliminary estimates on Thursday showing the state gained 4,800 jobs in October. Kansas Labor Secretary Lana Gordon says in a release from the department, that almost 3,400 additional Kansans became employed in October. The commonwealth's rate remained above that of the United States, which declined by one-tenth of a percentage point to 4.1 percent.

Maine's jobless rate continues to maintain historic lows. But she adds not all communities and regions of the state are benefiting equally from this growth. According to monthly data going back to 1990 kept by the DLIR, Hawaii County's unemployment rate has never dropped below 2.3 percent.

The state unemployment rate dipped to 2.7% in October, a tenth of a percent lower than in September.

The report says Nebraska non-farm employment in October was up 10,379 over the year and up 1,624 over the month.

The largest private-sector percentage job gains over the year were in other services; construction; professional, scientific, and business services; financial activities; and education and health services.
