Trump sarcastically responds to Kim Jong Un insults

Earlier in the day, Kim lashed out at Trump in statement and called him a "dotard", meaning very old person.

President Donald Trump on Sunday appeared to ridicule North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un as "short and fat", and he lashed out at critics of his relationship with Russia's leader, saying they are "haters and fools" who don't understand the merits of a good relationship with Moscow.

Trump has at times expressed impatience with that effort, but this week, he seemed to back away from "fire and fury", instead expressing hope for diplomacy.

"That might be a unusual thing to happen but it's a possibility", he said.

"Every step you take down this dark path increases the peril you face".

Asked at a news conference in Vietnam if he could see himself being friends with Kim, the Trump replied: "That might be a unusual thing to happen, but it's a possibility". "If that did happen, it would be a good thing for, I can tell you, for North Korea".

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Friday that he can envision the U.S. and North Korea agreeing to hold talks at some point as a precursor to formal negotiations.

All Eyes Were On Melania's Gorgeous Outfit At Beijing Zoo Tour
When President Donald Trump departed Asia, the first lady remained behind to tour the Bejing Zoo and the Great Wall of China. The Trumps visited Japan and South Korea before landing in China. "This is attractive , this is fantastic ", she said.

The Trump administration has said all military options remain on the table when dealing with the North Korean threat, but top US officials have consistently emphasized the U.S.is pursuing a diplomatically led effort, including additional economic pressure.

Is it a sign the administration's approach to North Korea is working, even as Washington and Pyongyang continue to exchange volleys in a war of words?

The harsh words between the leaders have escalated in recent months after North Korea threatened to launch missiles toward the United States territory of Guam.

As the president took to social media, three USA aircraft carriers were taking part in a military exercise in the Western Pacific, in a show of strength aimed at North Korea.

Trump continued to push his harsh rhetoric for North Korea on Sunday, telling reporters that "the world has been provoked" by the rogue nation.

"The 28,500 US Armed Forces personnel in South Korea are vastly outnumbered by North Korean forces, as well as ROK (South Korean) forces that will conduct the overwhelming majority of the fighting", he wrote. "The world has been provoked".
