Trump slams National Football League for not forcing players to stand

Goodell and National Football League owners convened for meetings on Tuesday.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday blasted the NFL, accusing the league of "total disrespect for our great country" following a meeting of team owners that did not adopt a requirement for players to stand during the national anthem. "About issues in our communities to make our communities better", Goodell said at a news conference following a meeting between officials and team owners in NY.

"One of the things we believe is our players should stand for the National Anthem; that's an important part of our game".

San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York attempted to downplay President Jockstrap's attacks on players who kneel.

As of now, it appears nothing will be changed on anthem front before Week 7 begins.

Goodell takes a question, "Do you have a commitment from the players that they will stand for the anthem - did you ask for that?"

In a joint-statement released last week by the NFL and NFLPA, both the league and union stated there have been no changes to the current policy regarding the national anthem.

The long running shutdown has also resulted in severe loss to the economy of the region that is dependent on summer tourism. The police recovered 6 AK 47 and some nine mm pistol and around 500 rounds of cartridges from the spot.

Last week, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that any player that "disrespects the flag" will not play. Among the topics discussed was enhancing the players' platforms for speaking out on social issues.

"Racial and socioeconomic inequality have existed in this country for way too long", York said. "We spent today talking about the issues that players have been trying to bring attention to - issues to make our communities better. that was the entire focus of today". "We have a great deal of support for the efforts of our players".

Since the reignited controversy, Goodell and owners have met with players, as they did yesterday, in a continued attempt to address the players' concerns.

"This was the first time we have gotten the chance to sit down in front of ownership", Philadelphia Eagles defensive captain Malcolm Jenkins said.

Polls have found that a majority of Americans disapprove of the anthem protests but are unhappy with the way Trump has handled the issue. "When you look at our clubs and what they do on a daily basis, when you look at our players at what they do and how they participate in that - we all feel very strongly about our country and our pride, and we will continue to do that".

Day 2 of the NFL Commissioner's meetings with owners and players will continue Wednesday and another press briefing will be held.
