Trump's Chief of Staff Says He's Not Quitting or Being Fired

"I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you are operating off of contacts, leaks, whatever you call them but I would just offer to you the advice, I'd say, maybe develop some better sources".

He also brushed aside reports suggesting he's taken firmer control of the White House staff than his predecessor, Reince Priebus, and cut off freewheeling access to Trump and the Oval Office.

And asked about the president's own frustrations, Kelly replied frankly: "One of his frustrations is you".

Kelly said all that isn't true - and that he's not planning on leaving his position or about to be fired, despite the rumors of tension.

And, in conclusion on that topic, Kelly joked, " I don't think I will fire anyone tomorrow".

Kelly also dismissed speculation that he might resign soon due to conflicts with Trump, saying that he had just talked to the president and did not think he would be fired.

This seems unlikely. In August, Trump claimed on Twitter to have ordered the modernization of the US nuclear arsenal on his first day in office, stating that the current stockpile "is now far stronger and more powerful than ever before". His appearance followed recent reports that he's unhappy in his job and has considered leaving.

The extraordinary statement drew a bit of laughter, but it reflected serious turmoil in the top ranks of the White House that has persisted since the Donald Trump was inaugurated as the nation's 45th president.

Mattis: Report that Trump Wanted Tenfold Nuclear Increase 'Absolutely False' and 'Irresponsible'
Pure fiction, made up to demean. "People should look into it". "I mean, I've seen tremendously dishonest press". On some days, the majority of the tweets fluttering from the Oval Office focus on the press .

When asked about President Donald Trump's frustrations, Kelly, speaking to a group of reporters, said, "One of his frustrations is you".

"I was not brought to this job to control anything but the flow of information to our president", he said.

"No, I'm not frustrated", Kelly shot back.

"I have found that Mr. Trump, from the day I met him, is a decisive guy, he's a very thoughtful man, I should say, ' Kelly reassured the press that the president only the day before slammed as "fake news" while labeling it 'disgusting" that the press 'is able to write whatever they want'.

White House Chief of Staff John Kelly said yesterday that the hermit state's intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) pose a real threat to the US.

"I told Rex Tillerson, our wonderful secretary of State, that he is wasting his time trying to negotiate with Little Rocket Man". The best job I've ever had, as I've said many times, is when I was an enlisted marine sergeant infantryman.

To recap: John Kelly is not mad, and he's neither quitting nor being fired today.
