Sigurdson's Strike Sends Iceland To Russia — FIFA WC Qualifier

Incredibly, Iceland is now the smallest ever nation to qualify for the World Cup in the history of the world's biggest tournament. They reached the quarter-finals, beating England along the way, before finally falling to the hosts.

The penultimate night of the UEFA World Cup Qualifying rounds was largely bereft of both goals and entertainment value for long periods.

Icelandic football team has not enjoyed notable success until the 21st century and it was exactly in the previous World Cup qualifiers - for the 2014 edition in Brazil - that the football world first took notice of Vikings.

Iceland won the group by two points from star-studded Croatia, who beat Ukraine 2-0 in Kiev to win a play-off place.

The chant was a success when Iceland made its major tournament debut at the Euros in France past year, when it stunned by reaching the quarterfinals after drawing with Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the group stage and eliminating England in the last 16.

And The Green Army inflicted a first defeat upon Chris Coleman's men since the 2-0 loss to Portugal at Euro 2016; they went down 1-0 to the Irish.

Azhar Ali rested for Sri Lanka ODIs
It is worth mentioning here that Sri Lanka is leading the two-match Test series 1-0. Chandimal scored 62 runs and Perera scored 58 runs for the team.

Iceland coach Heimir Hallgrimsson was in disbelief after his team qualified for the 2018 World Cup with a 2-0 win over Kosovo.

Qualification for Russian Federation 2018 has been won the hard way, winning a group containing Ukraine, Croatia and Turkey.

Serbia, Wales and Republic of Ireland occupied the top three positions in Group D ahead of kick-off, with the two countries on the British Isles facing off in Cardiff. The hardest thing was to get going again after our massive party in France, but we decided that we were just going to finish this.

Serbia booked their place in the finals thanks to a 1-0 win against Georgia, with substitute Aleksandar Prijovic's strike on 74 minutes proving the difference.

And while we're sure Iceland's celebrations are still well and truly underway - anyone heading to Russian Federation next year now has around eight months to prepare for scenes like this.
