Brendan Steele retains Safeway Open title with two-shot victory

Phil Mickelson and Chesson Hadley finished three shots behind.

It's safe to say that Brendan Steele has enjoyed competing in the Safeway Open, as Sunday afternoon he won the event for the second consecutive year.

On Friday, almost five months to the day since his champagne-soaked celebration in Texas, Daly achieved another major milestone: he made his first PGA Tour cut since 2015.

Chez Reavie, Lucas Glover, Jamie Lovemark and Argentina's Emiliano Grillo are tied for fourth at 67. But he missed a short putt for birdie on the 16th and a short putt for par on the 17th.

"I hit a good putt on 18". He won by two over Tony Finau, who had a 69 and was at 13-under 275.

The American had a favourable bounce on the approach to the par-five fifth and holed the subsequent putt to eagle the hole in a round which included six birdies, and is now clear 7/1 favourite with Sky Bet. Like Steele, Finau shot a 3-under 69 on Sunday.

"I was with my parents when I got the call, so I was able to kind of share the moment with them a little bit".

He said: "Let's take a moment to admire the fact that I just hit a fairway".

Russian opponent Alexei Navalny sentenced to 20 days in prison
The rally, part of Navalny's campaign tour of Russian Federation , was scheduled for Saturday, October 7, Putin's 64th birthday. Alexei Navalny had already served a prison sentence of twenty-five days this summer for same reason.

Thomas previously won the PGA of America award as player of the year, which is based on points.

"I had seen the weather forecast for the whole week, that Sunday was going to be windy and it seems like Sunday's always the hardest day on the PGA Tour for whatever reason, the weather comes in".

The event was the opener of the 2017-18 PGA Tour season. "But on the back nine, I played some good solid golf and made a late move".

Brendan Steele reflects on defending his Safeway Open title in California.

Mickelson, who finished eighth here a year ago, is seeking a first win since the 2013 Open Championship.

Steele finished at 14-under 273 for his third PGA Tour title.

Rookie Tyler Duncan, the third-round leader, and Canadian Graham DeLaet shared fifth place at 277. He had an eagle, 10 birdies and a bogey.

Sangmoon Bae carded a one-over 73 on his return to the PGA Tour after serving military service in his native South Korea, dropping four shots in a row but scoring birdies on the 12th and 18th.
