Mueller is focused on Trump's actions as president, according to reports

Mueller also asked the White House to save all the documents relating to Trump Jr.'s Trump Tower meeting, according to a source who had seen the notice, CNN reported in July.

So it makes flawless sense that Mueller wants to know as much he can about precisely why Flynn was sacked, and what discussions of the matter might have taken place among White House officials beforehand. He has also asked for any documents related to a meeting Trump held in the oval office with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov the day after Comey was sacked.

According to the Times, Mr Mueller has also asked for information regarding how the White House responded to questions from the newspaper about a meeting Mr Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, had with a Kremlin-connected attorney past year.

Sources also told the Washington Post that Mueller was looking at meetings between White House counsel Donald McGahn and then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, who was sacked in January for her refusal to defend Trump's travel ban targeting Muslim countries.

Ex-FBI chief James Comey's firing in May is reportedly also being investigated for potential obstruction of justice.

As part of that effort, Mr. Mueller's prosecutors have. "That meeting was set up by Donald Trump Jr., the president's eldest son, to get derogatory information from Russians about Hillary Clinton".

The inquiry from Mueller's team, who is leading the investigation into whether Trump associates coordinated with Russian Federation to influence the 2016 presidential election, suggests that the investigation is moving into a new phase inching closer to the president.

For those who don't know, Jackie Hoffman is a 56-year-old actress and stand-up comedian. We only wish she had kept the joke going longer.

The fact that Mueller's team would speak with Rosenstein is not surprising given his direct involvement in Trump administration conversations that preceded the May 9 ouster and the evolving White House explanations of it.

"The White House remains committed to cooperate fully with the special counsel", Cobb said.

The areas include President Trump's decision to fire FBI Director James Comey (right). It is both specific to his time on the campaign - and does not, presumably, cover the transitional period between the election and inauguration - and also does not categorically deny collusion may have taken place, it just asserts he was not aware of it.

Mueller was appointed in May, shortly after it was revealed that Comey had written a series of memos about his interactions with Trump - including one Oval Office meeting when Comey said Trump had asked him to end the FBI investigation of Flynn.

Over the last few weeks, White House lawyer Ty Cobb began sending a series of records to the special counsel.

The Delaware Democrat's measure would allow Mueller to challenge such a firing in federal court.

The special counsel has requested documents about a statement made a week before Comey's firing by the former White House press secretary, Sean Spicer.
