Russia's week-long Zapad military exercises went disastrously wrong either Monday or Sunday when one of the helicopters fired several missiles at audience members, The Moscow Times reports.

In the footage two rockets are clearly visible streaking towards a military-type truck.

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation officials say they are monitoring the "Zapad-2017" or "West-2017" war games with "calm and confidence", but many are unnerved about what they see as Moscow testing its ability to wage war against the West. Russia says the exercise is rehearsing a purely defensive scenario. According to the sources, three people were lightly injured and two cars damaged, and the military is already carrying out an investigation. According to the Russian 66.ru portal, the accident happened on Monday at the Luzhsky range, near from the Estonian border. "Today, a successful launch of the modernized missile system of the Ground Forces, Iskander-M, was carried out", Tass news agency quoted the ministry as saying. Some 13,000 soldiers, plus hundreds of tanks and other vehicles, are taking part in the joint Russian-Belarussian exercise. Some reports noted two people were injured.

Later on Tuesday the RBC news outlet reported that the incident happened on September 16, citing an anonymous source close to Russia's Defence Ministry. "As a result, an unguided rocket hit one of the trucks without any people in it".

[A] ll social media messages about "rounds on a crowd of journalists, ' 'a large number of seriously wounded" are either a deliberate provocation or someone's personal stupidity. It also would not say when or where the incident took place.
