Nursing Home Patients Die After AC Shuts Off In Florida Amid Irma

"It's a sad state of affairs", the police chief said.

"We are managing 115 patients throughout the Memorial hospitals", Memorial Healthcare System spokesperson Kerting Baldwin said Wednesday.

More than 6 million people were evacuated from their homes in Florida, and they have slowly begun to return, even as roadways remain littered with debris, homes lack electricity and traffic signals have gone dark. It said the facility had in fact been listed as "non-critical" infrastructure, but only because that was how nursing homes were supposed to be designated under FPL's own guidance.

He added that the patients who have been admitted to the hospital are mostly being treated for "respiratory distress, dehydration and heat-related issues".

The Broward County medical examiner identified three of the victims-all women over 70 years old-but hadn't yet determined the cause of death.

"We are conducting a criminal investigation (and) not ruling anything out at this time", Sanchez said at a press conference Wednesday. When that person died, they were taken to a funeral home.

"Although the details of these reported deaths are still under investigation, this situation is unfathomable", he said.

Destiny 2 servers down for maintenance this afternoon, but not for long
Destiny 2 has had a tumultuous initial first week but now things are gearing up for a bright future. Destiny 2 Strikes and Nightfall Strikes are back.

Long before this past week, however, the facility had a history of poor inspections. In both instances, the nursing home corrected these deficiencies.

"Our centers' first priority is always the safety and well-being of every resident in their care and they are doing everything in their power to meet their immediate and ongoing needs", wrote the association's executive director, Kristen Knapp. The governor's office said on Tuesday "the facility reported to the AHCA [Agency for Health Care Administration] that they had power and access to fans and spot coolers".

"Dr. Jack Michel in 2006 settled claims after he and five others were accused of agreeing to send patients to his Miami hospital, Larkin Community, for unnecessary treatment, according to the Department of Justice". Along with Michel, the Justice Department named Philip Esformes - whose name arose again last summer, when he was indicted after federal prosecutors accused him of leading "a complex and profitable health care fraud scheme that resulted in staggering losses - in excess of $1 billion".

Katz said so many patients needed assistance that his hospital, which is just down the street, called in more than 50 doctors, nurses and other staffers under a mass casualty protocol.

In Broward County, more than 212,000 electricity accounts were without power Thursday morning, state officials said.

The overall death toll from Irma climbed to 81 on Wednesday, with several hard-hit Caribbean islands accounting for more than half the fatalities, and officials continued to assess damage inflicted by the second major hurricane to strike the US mainland this year.

"Was not interested to get there", she said, blaming Florida Power and Light, not the nursing home staff, for the deaths. The move came after workers repaired three water main breaks.
