Maria Sharapova knocked out of US Open by 16th seed Anastasija Sevastova

Maria Sharapova managed to save three match points in her fourth round battle with Anastasija Sevastova at the U.S. Open Sunday, but a finger blister, poor footwork and 51 unforced errors eventually conspired in Sharapova's unraveling. When No. 5 seed Caroline Wozniacki criticized the U.S. Tennis Association after her second-round loss for favorably scheduling Sharapova, a player returning from a suspension for using a banned substance, Sharapova responded flatly: "All that matters to me is I'm in the fourth round". Sharapova said. "You can't replicate that anywhere".

"It's been a really great ride in the last week", said the 30-year-old Russian.

"I don't know how many break points I had before I got the first one", Nadal said.

Maria Sharapova fought off a tough challenge in the first set and then cruised past American Sofia Kenin 7-5, 6-2 in their third-round match at the US Open.

"I was lucky able to get a lot of those matches in a row, like in Toronto and Cincinnati back-to-back, which during a comeback is not easy".

Next on the schedule for Sharapova is the WTA event in Beijing at the end of September as she attempts to build her ranking to ensure direct entry into the 2018 Australian Open. "That's what I missed", Sharapova said.

Sharapova made 50 unforced errors and was unable to match her opponent's consistency.

And she had impressed in the early rounds including knockout out second seed Simona Halep. It was an incredible opportunity.

Uber's new CEO: 'This company has to change'
Okerstrom will also join the company's board of directors, and Khosrowshahi will continue to be a member of Expedia's board. Uber board recently stated that " We're really fortunate to gain a leader with Dara's experience , talent and vision".

Sevastova will play American Sloane Stephens in the last eight on Tuesday. "You know, it's another life-changing event for me".

Sharapova traffics in power tennis; her serves are rockets, while Sevastova's travel at roughly the speed of the moon orbiting the earth. Her outfits still were note ideal - she made her debut and upset the No. 2 seed in the first round dressed in villainous black, and she lost Sunday in pale pink so light it could have been white - and her ability to create drama stayed intact. That drew the "car park" response from Sharapova and, at times here, she played as if she had the limo revving up outside and ready to go.

"I think I allowed the match to become physical", she said. She can use her slice to move Sharapova around the court and turn the match into an uncomfortable grind.

Venus Williams has produced a dazzling comeback to advance to her 39th grand slam quarter-final with a three-set fourth-round US Open win over Carla Suarez Navarro.

The hyper Rafael Nadal burst into cries of 'Vamos!' and his player box joined in the celebrations like he had won a pretty big deal. Opponents with little to lose have come hard and fast at her, and the statuesque Czech has managed to hang by a thread.

In a freaky fourth-round contest, the Argentine reeled off the last five games after being treated for a leg issue to oust 16th-seeded Frenchman Lucas Pouille 7-6 (7-3) 7-5 2-6 6-2. "I wanted to close it so much".

"Obviously, I could never say, Oh, yeah, when I was coming back, I'm going to make two semifinals, a quarterfinal".
