Trump repeats NAFTA termination threat

He said renegotiation process with Mexico and Canada are very hard and we may have to terminate the deal.

The NAFTA deal was first drafted by President Ronald Reagan and came into effect under President Bill Clinton in 1994, effectively eliminating tariffs between U.S., Canada and Mexico.

But, once in office, Trump declined to move quickly to cancel the deal and instead agreed to a complex, tri-national renegotiation process.

Donald Trump again alluded to the possible termination of NAFTA on his Twitter account.

As NAFTA talks continue, the European Union (EU) is seeking, through direct negotiations with Mexico, to impose new barriers to dairy trade through the abuse of geographical indications.

Griffith also said, "We promised the American people, not just in the last campaign, we've promised the American people going back to the Reagan administration that we would secure our southern border".

Florida Man Will Be First To Die Under New Lethal Injection Protocol
While condemning the "heinous" murders, the bishops called for a life sentence without parole instead of the death penalty. Mr Asay has exhausted his legal options and his fate is all but sealed - but the Florida executions won't stop with him.

Trump also demanded that Mexico pay for his border wall "through reimbursement/other", signalled a visit to Missouri created to pressure a Democratic senator, and praised a book by a controversial law enforcement official. But the plan was widely condemned in Mexico. Trump campaigned on a pledge to do away with NAFTA, which he blamed for the loss of USA manufacturing jobs.

"I don't really believe he's concerned as much over Canada as much as maybe Mexico". "This determination is not part of a Mexican negotiating strategy, but is a principle of sovereignty and national dignity".

Enacted in 1992, NAFTA removed barriers to trade, and has led to more than a six-fold increase in USA dairy exports to Mexico, to $1.2 billion in 2016.

Large amounts of cocaine, heroin and other drugs are smuggled north to the USA via Mexican territory.

Mexico has repeatedly said there's no chance of that happening.
