Trump is publicly sparring with yet another Republican senator

Despite Senator Corker's refusal to say whether he'll seek a third term.

Trump's defense of white nationalists following a violent rally in Virginia that left a protester dead caused Corker to issue a blistering rebuke, raising questions about the president's stability and competence and demanding "radical changes" in the White House. Trump argued that the legislation was unconstitutional and said it would damage his presidency.

At yesterday's White House press briefing, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters "the relationships" between Donald Trump and congressional Republicans "are fine".

"There is no senator - no Republican senator - who President Trump talks to more than Bob Corker. Tennessee not happy!" Trump wrote at the tail end of a five-tweet tweetstorm.

The president responded to comments made by Tennessee Senator Bob Corker questioning his competence in the White House.

Corker, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, is personally closer to Trump than most GOP senators. Lindsay Graham ("He just can't forget his election trouncing") and Jeff Flake ("he's toxic!"). The Tennessean reported on Thursday that a former state representative, Joe Carr, was considering a challenge to Corker next year. Lamar Alexander in 2014 and U.S. Rep. Diane Black previous year.

Last week, Trump also called out Sen. I know that for a fact. Corker said he felt compelled to voice criticism of Donald Trump after the president said white supremacists didn't bear all the blame for a melee in Charlottesville, Virginia, where a woman was killed after being struck by a auto driven into a crowd.

And on Thursday, Corker spoke out against Trump's threat to force a federal government shutdown unless Congress provides funding for a wall along the U.S. "But I see my job as saying what I think and his job is saying what he thinks".

Green announced in early August that he did not intend to run against Corker in 2018 based on how "everything sits right now".
