Three dead after gun attack breaks out during trial in Moscow courtroom

At least 20 shots were fired inside a Moscow regional court on Tuesday, killing three people and wounding four others, in what appeared to have been gang attempt to take hostages and escape. Officials say a suspect attacked one of the guards and tried to strangle him before the defendants seized the weapons from the guards. We began to be evacuated.

"There was a shootout in the Moscow Regional Court, employees were wounded, I saw a wounded female bailiff, whose face was covered in blood", Rubasskaya said.

Three security officers were injured, as well.

The regional branches of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Investigative Committee said Wednesday in online statements that they were investigating the incident.

Operating in the capital's outskirts, its members killed 17 drivers and passengers, leaving behind their belongings in all but one case.

They added that "three of the prisoners were liquidated and two wounded". "They have gunshot wounds of medium degree of gravity", the spokesman said.

Instead, there were only two guards for the entire group, according to the Moscow Investigative Committee.

However, one of the convoy officers called for backup and a shootout erupted on the third floor of the court's building between the suspects and law enforcers.

The investigation into the gang charged a total of nine defendants, all of whom originated from ex-Soviet Central Asian states, with murder, "banditry", robbery and arms trafficking.

The members of the GTA Gang, which took its name after a computer game, are charged with murders of vehicle drivers in Moscow, the Moscow and neighboring Kaluga regions in 2012-2014.
