Trump, Foxconn announce $10 billion plant in Wisconsin

The Jared Kushner-led White House Office of American Innovation was also thanked by Gou.

The planned Foxconn plant, which was announced in a press conference at the White House, will initially create 3,000 jobs, with the maximum 13,000 jobs to be opened in the near future.

Walker added that the facility will have multiple buildings that will total 20 million square feet, which is three times the size of the Pentagon. House Speaker Paul Ryan, whose congressional district will be home to the plant, worked closely with Trump and Walker on the deal.

"We are thrilled to build a state-of-the-art display fabrication plant in America's heartland, which will be the first of a series of facilities we are building in several USA states as part of a robust 8K+5G ecosystem in the United States", Gou said at the press conference, calling the announcement of the investment deal: "The eagle flies".

Many other states were vying for the new plant, including Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, and Indiana.

Now with Foxconn's announcement, it is unclear if Trump was referring to this production facility.

U.S. says China acknowledged goal of reducing bilateral trade deficit
The United States past year ran a trade deficit in goods with China of $347 billion, the amount by which imports exceeded exports. American negotiators on Wednesday might have demanded that China provide specific data on the issue.

According to Politico, in 2013, Foxconn Technology also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry tried to expand in the United States, planning to build a $30 million facility that would have created 500 jobs in Harrisburg, Pa. So too did White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, a Kenosha native who said he talked up the potential of southeast Wisconsin to Trump for the plant.

Foxconn, the company that brings you iPhones and Nintendo, is making a $10 billion investment in Southeastern Wisconsin.

During the campaign, Trump said he would "get Apple to to build their damn computers and things in this country instead of other countries". Foxconn's first factory in China, in Shenzhen near Hong Kong, grew to employ hundreds of thousands of workers on dozens of assembly lines.

"This has the opportunity to be one of the largest job creators in USA manufacturing", the official said. "Yet America does not have a single LCD factory to produce a complete 8K system". In return, the state of Wisconsin will provide Foxconn with $3 billion in economic incentives, Walker said.

Wisconsin could be on the hook for billions of dollars in incentives as part of the deal, though no details of the state's proposal have been released.
