PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Getting First-Person Only Servers Soon

Bluehole Studio has announced that a FOV slider will be coming to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds in the next monthly update.

There's a good reason for dubbing this "hardcore mode".

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds can be played in both third- and first-person, but because of the advantage afforded to players in third-person - who can adjust the camera to see over cover, or see around corners without putting themselves in danger - the community has always been awaiting official first-person only servers. They'll be available in North America and Europe first, before rolling out in other regions.

When limited to first-person view, the already-challenging PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will further ramp up in difficulty, with more tension to fill each match as it becomes much harder for players to see if there are enemies around.

LaVar Ball On Lonzo's Losing Lakers Debut: 'His Worst Game Ever'
I know it's going to take time to build and we're building, but when we get the right people in here, we're going to win". Instead of going to the movies, everyone's coming to watch the Lakers and the Big Baller Brand. "I'm not insane .

Why is that? When you're playing in third-person mode, the camera's position allows you do things like look around corners and over cover without exposing yourself to danger or giving away your position.

The PUBG subreddit is pretty ecstatic about the news, as first-person servers have been high on their wish-list for some time now. Developer Bluehole will use the feedback they receive from NA and European Union players to polish the game mode before rolling it out to squad play and other regional servers.

Update: Brendan Greene, PlayerUnknown himself, has confirmed dedicated first-person servers for PUBG's next monthly update, despite prior reservations voiced earlier this week. The developer's community manager, Sammie Kang, chimed in on Twitter confirming that the update will also include an FOV slider.
