Computer glitch sends Nasdaq bonkers just in time for 4th July holiday

At other times, the market data reset shares in major corporations like Apple, Google, and Microsoft to $123.47 (109 euros) each. "This is now being fixed and we hope to update our stock price data shortly".

The stock exchange closed early for Independence Day in the US.

A weird computer glitch led to the stock prices of several United States technology companies including Amazon and Google to be dramatically undervalued on Tuesday morning, leading to some losing billions in value.

According to Bloomberg, Amazon.com Inc. and Microsoft Corp.'s shares appeared to fall by more than 50 percent, while Apple Inc.'s stock was at one stage trading 348 percent higher. Third-party providers were blamed by Nasdaq for the problem.

The spokesman speculated that the day's early close might have caused confusion with some closing prices for a number of third parties, including Bloomberg and Yahoo, but emphasised that no trades were affected by the erroneous quotes.

Gunman opens fire at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in New York City
Henry Michael Bello, a 45-year-old family medicine doctor formerly employed at the hospital, according to sources. The official was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

New York Stock Exchange data were unaffected by the glitch.

Monday's glitch was different. It appears that market trading was not affected, including pre-market trading.

A Nasdaq statement explains that the company is investigating what happened and which third-party they can blame it on.

As part of a normal process it carries out, the UTP distributed its test data that was improperly circulated by certain third parties and Nasdaq now is working with those third-party vendors in an attempt to resolve this matter, said a spokesperson for Nasdaq late Monday night.
