Google to stop scanning Gmail for ad personalization

Ms Greene's remit covers not only G Suite, but also the company's cloud computing platforms, which are directly competing against rival Amazon's attempts to position Amazon Web Services as the core infrastructure of the internet.

The move effectively brings the widely-used email service in line with its enterprise offering, G Suite.

The company states that "consumer Gmail content will not be used or scanned for any ads personalisation after this change".

While Google has stated it won't be scanning personal Gmail accounts for providing ads, the process will still be in practice for other purposes.

In December, Google tentatively agreed to hold off on scanning incoming mail until after the messages were available in a Gmail user's inbox, which it argued would help resolve concerns about Google violating state wiretapping laws.

According to Google, most people who use G-Suite pay for it.

Owners can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov for more. Check the company's website to enter the serial number of your auto seat to see if the recall affects you.

Google will continue to display ads in the consumer version of Gmail, though they will be less targeted once this change rolls out.

That doesn't mean that Gmail is going ad free.

"By indicating possible email responses, Gmail features like Smart Reply making emailing easier, faster, and more efficient". It's worth pointing out that in order to keep doing that - it will scan your email content generically. It's worth noting that ads will remain on the consumer version of Gmail, but ads will now be targeted based on info from user profiles, searches, and browsing history.

Meanwhile, last week, Google announced that it has started using the Brotli algorithm to compress Google Display Ads "whenever possible" that results in data savings of 15-40 percent. Click on that, and you'll have to go a tab called 'Manage Ad settings'.

Google has decided it will no longer scan your email's contents to provide personalised adverts. The new changes are expected to make customers feel more secure and satisfied knowing that their emails are not being scanned.
