Authorities: Texas mom left 2 kids in hot car as punishment

Cynthia Marie Randolph, 24, was jailed Friday on two counts of causing serious bodily harm to a child. The children were unresponsive and Randolph said she broke a window to gain entry. Her bond had not been set as of late Friday.

Randolph then when back into the home, smoked marijuana and slept for two to three hours, according to FOX4.

She said she then broke the auto window to corroborate her initial story.

The Texas mom is now in custody at Park County Jail.

When Randolph found the children in distress, police said the woman broke the window of the vehicle to make the incident "look like an accident".

The children were identified as a 16 month-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. The Tarrant County medical examiner's office has not yet ruled on the manner and cause of each child's death.

He also sent a certified letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell , according to the lawsuit, but did not receive a response. The filing includes email strings showing Beckman's attempt to get the dispute resolved before the event.

A 16-month-old boy was also left in the vehicle, which likely reached a temperature of nearly 100 degrees while both children were inside.

Authorities said Randolph initially told officers that she had been folding laundry in the house while her children played outside.

Authorities were called to the home at about 4 p.m. when the mother said she had discovered them unresponsive in the auto. She said approximately 20 to 30 minutes had passed when she realized she had not heard the children. She said the two children got in the vehicle on their own and locked themselves in.

CBS Dallas-Fort Worth detailed some of the falsehoods Randolph told authorities.

After she found both children unresponsive, Randolph said she broke a window of the vehicle in an attempt to save the children, the release stated. The children were pronounced dead at 4:33 p.m. But her account of that day changed over the course of several interviews with investigators until she acknowledged on Friday that she left them in the auto intentionally, the Parker County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
